Who am I?
My name is Alicia, I am a self taught artist currently living in a small Pennsylvania town with my husband and my dogs.
Art has always been a passion for me and combining it with a love for animals and the understanding that each pet is his/her own individual has led me to painting pet portraits...not of breeds, but of your actual beloved pet. Each animal is unique, with his or her own spark, and deserves to be captured as an individual. I also enjoy doing portraits of people, scenery, and old cars, but pets are always a favorite of mine.
I learned to draw and paint at an early age, a passion that has filled every day of my life. I grew to love Oil Paints from the art, passion, and talent of my grandmother, and of course from experimentation and self discovery. There is a richness and luster that no other medium can offer, and a vibrancy no camera can really pick up in the photos on this site.
My paintings are created from regular photographs people send to me, or from photo's emailed to me. People can pick what kind of surroundings they want, colors they prefer, or if the wish exactly what is in the photo. The more information is always better!
I have been featured in our local gallery here for some of my scenery, pet portraits, and portraits of people, and I am part of the Pennsylvania Art Alliance. I also have experience with pencil, pen and ink, watercolors, and acrylic on wood, and enjoy each medium. In the past, I have also worked for tattoo studios, drawing portraits people wanted tattooed, designing custom artwork, and selling flash. (there is something really neat seeing someone wear your art!)
I usually work in Oils, so paintings usually take a few months to complete, and I ship to anywhere in the continental US. I prefer not to frame my paintings simply because it adds to the cost of the finished product, and everyone has a different taste and style. I use conventional sized canvases to make framing easier for the customers, so there is no need of custom framing- unless that is your preference.
